Hot Tip of the Month- August 2005: "When one person out of a thousand complains"
Whenever I get calls from a facility about something random concerning the bikes, I always ask, how many people complained about this. Specifically, is the problem a "real" problem, or was it just one person's issue. For example, if the complaint is about the seat angles, should I go in and change EVERY seat angle or was it perhaps someone new with a sensitive backside, whom may have been effected by ANY saddle angle because their rear was not conditioned to be on a bike seat in the first place. Another common random complaint is how easy or hard it is to get in and out of the pedals. Maybe the complaint is from someone who has just started using clip in shoes. I wouldn't re-adjust every pedal because someone new is having a hard time with their bike, they would initially struggle with any pedal on any bike. Just be careful making a blanket adjustment or fix when it's possible the problem may be random and overall, there isn't really an issue at all.
