Hot Tip of the Month- October 2006: “Scary stuff
to avoid in the rooms”
It’s approaching Halloween and let’s face it, there is some scary
stuff in a lot of the Spinning rooms out there. First off, be careful of all
the sharp edges a lot of the NEW bikes have. The new NXT has a seat slider end
cap that under the right circumstances can rival the best knife Freddy Kruger
has in his arsenal if you graze it just right. Same with the seat towers that
stick out on Schwinn’s new Evolution series bikes. Another little treat
is jumping on a brand spanking new bike, that was “Monkey” built,
and you put your rear end in the saddle and the damn things pivot downward OR
upward because they forgot to tighten the saddle. Here’s my favorite “Scary
little treat”; you go into a room with brand new bikes, the anticipation
is thick, YEAH baby, brand new bikes!! The ride starts, and on the downward
pedal stroke the pedal just falls out of the crank arm, because the bonehead
who assembled the bikes forgot to tighten the pedals. Now that’s SCARY.
