Hot Tip of the Month- November 2005: "Indoor Trainers
- One mans opinion"
I get a lot of calls from my online ads for bikes I sell; one of the more common
topics of interest is my take on indoor trainers. I think they were OK years
back, simply because there were no other options. With so many great indoor
cycles to choose from these days, I wouldn’t dream of putting my bicycles
into an indoor trainer. For starters, it’s hard on the bike, but I believe
the simulation is poor. I see people developing a sort of “Stairmaster”
pedal stroke, this is when there is an obvious emphasis on the top and bottom
of a pedal stroke. Of course a good pedal shouldn’t really have a top
and a bottom; it should be an even 360 degrees of application. So with that
being said, I think if your going to train indoors, you should do it on an indoor
bike, NOT and indoor trainer. Happy Thanksgiving!
